  Skydiving Community

Have you wondered why people keep coming back for more and more skydiving? Well the answer is community.

Target Skysports skydivers are a close knit group of people. Every weekend, you can find regular skydivers staying over at the dropzone. Jumping with your friends over the Lincolnshire countryside is not the only reason to skydive. In the UK you will find jumpers who regularly travel long distances to be coached, organised, compete in competitions and enjoy big parties at the centre.

  Weekend 22nd to 23rd March 2008

The electric car track took several well educated individuals to (incorrectly) assemble the track. Their mistakes pointed out by the youngest skydiver on the Drop Zone, and notably the one who is likely to have had the most recent experience.

You can only imagine a few of the endless captions that could be attached to the photo below.

Above: If you need to read the instructions, you are probably too old to be playing with this. Move over and let the little kids build it.

Below: The first track is finally built. Only then do the 'Engineers' admit that it would have probably been better to build a simpler one first.

Below: Check out where both the cars are. It's not just because its girls driving, they just happened to crash at exactly the same time.

Above: The loop the loop proved a difficult challenge for first time drivers.

Below: It was all fun and games until the military turned up!

After a rebuild, things got more and more adventurous, an extended and enlarged loop the loop was constructed. By this time jumping had finished and the bar was open.

Above: Some people found it as gripping as F1 racing.

NEXT UP: The Pinata!

Stu Fergusons rather unique creation originally resembled an off colour egg from the film Aliens, it was thankfully later decorated with kids paint. Once people had a few drinks, the contest started.

Blindfolded and spun, generally on the spot (although a few deviated) the contestants were then allowed three strikes at a now swinging Pinata.

Well done to Liz who managed to get the first lot of prizes and Henry Chow who ripped the Pinata off the rope. The Pinata consisted of over £20 of chocolate, some Immodium, Bouncy Balls, a Pot of Jam from the AGM, and the star prize, a Jump Ticket. Several others managed to get some prizes, but the jackpot hit goes to Lee Pugh, who managed not only to shred the Pinata, but scatter EVERY remaining toy sweet or other prize across the length of the bar.

Photo below: The moment just before Lee shreds the Pinata.

After the Pinata had been destroyed. DJ Del did his thing, but the glow sticks proved to be too much of a distraction, and we believe he had the entire lot attached to him at one point.

Russ laid on some interesting drinks. Below is the special made by russ. In the bottom "Red Bull" and the glasses balanced upon the top contain a secret known only to Russ and all the people watching.

It was a slightly messy affair, but in true Student style, Del did an amazing clean up job. Photo Below.

The rest of the night was spent enjoying the music and attempted jokes by whoever managed to nick the microphone off Stu.

The surprise of Sunday morning. A white wash snow cover. Cue snowmen and thanks to the sculptor skills of Andy Wesley snow women.

The obvious snowball fight was only a matter of time, but pranks were played on people who didn't get up in time. (and eventually had to leave via the back window)

Nice one Wez, for the sculpting, and detail on this one.
