  Skydiving Community

Have you wondered why people keep coming back for more and more skydiving? Well the answer is community.

Target Skysports skydivers are a close knit group of people. Every weekend, you can find regular skydivers staying over at the dropzone. Jumping with your friends over the Lincolnshire countryside is not the only reason to skydive. In the UK you will find jumpers who regularly travel long distances to be coached, organised, compete in competitions and enjoy big parties at the centre.

  Weekend 26th to 27th April 2008

Skydive choreography with Caroline Hughes. Party Night and more, all below!

News update expected to be fully published by Monday night, so check back soon!

It's not just FS jumpers that can benefit from this weekend, those looking to improve their camera skills (photo below) or even those that wish to try their hand at load organising can get plenty from this kind of event.

Photos above and below by Dave Butterell. Scott Mackenzie is the cameraman in view on both of these photos.

Below: What people thought of the Big way for Beginners Weekend.

Pip Hollingworth (Intermediate Big way Jumping)

Pip was happy she joined in the Big way for beginners event rather than do camera for it, especially as she is known more as a freeflyer than an FS jumper. Pip has been in the sport 2 years and has over 400 jumps.

Learning lots about skydiving discipline, fall rates, referencing others, exits and many other things she also made many friends over this weekend and openly admits she had a lot of fun doing the skydives.

The 14 way formations are the biggest she has ever been in to date, and she is especially pleased that several points were turned on the 14 ways, something she hadn't achieved on some of the smaller formations earlier in the year.

The satisfaction of seeing the formations build and how much she had improved from the last time were the biggest sources of happiness for her.

Scott Mackenzie (Beginner to Videoing Big way formations)

Scott has been in the sport for 4 years, and has 340 jumps, he's an enthusiastic individual who has recently started working on to the Hibaldstow camera pool, filming tandems.

Dave Butterell, a seasoned cameraman has been giving Scott a few tips, as these first few jumps will be his first ones filming big way formations.

Scott is happy to have attended, and said that he was happy to be part of the progression and to make new friends.

He commented on the high level of organisation, and the general good 'vibe', as well as how everyone just got along.

New skills, such as staged exiting with larger formations, and videoing formations from a single fixed position are now firmly under his belt. The best thing for Scott were the people taking part.

Other quotes from people taking part include "Fab", "Awesome", "Is what skydiving is all about", "Good to meet others and try new slots" and "No blame culture", thanks to Maria Russell and Jo Hawley for some of those!

Anyone else wanting to take part on big way formations doing the video work, rather than being part of the formation are always welcome, just let us know in advance.

Lee Pugh's Send off.

Lee Pughs send off on Saturday night was made all the more interesting with Stu Fergusons new 'game'

Stu's latest game involves people being blindfolded and spun around, then letting them loose on each other, guided by only the shouts of their fellow team members. Only with everyone else shouting out other instructions (wrong), it makes for an entertaining battle.
