30th August 2008 - 22:50
Most 8-way teams have completed 8 rounds of jumping with
2 to go tomorrow. Its been a fantastic day with some
very short weather holds, but the dropzone made the most
of it allowing a lot of jumps to be completed. In the
Speed skydiving event, there are 10 competitors with 3
definite contenders for the prize. At the moment Simon
Brentford is in the lead after 4 rounds with Michael
Lovemore and Noel Purcell just a fraction behind.
Even thought its a 6 round comp, only your best 3 speeds
go through, so it gives everyone the chance to rapidly
change their positions. The top speed ranges are around
the 240 to 250 mph. Claire Murphy who is currently the
best in the UK has been on hand to provide the coaching
and the scoring. Its nice to see her commitment to
seeing this small discipline grow.
Quite a few teams have completed their Freestyle
event especially in the B-classes which have only 5
rounds to do instead of 7.
What
is surprising is the senior 8-way event at the moment.
Escondido8 and Exstormin8te are only a few points apart
in 2nd and 3rd place. Exstormin8te are the trained team
having done a camp and Escondido8 are a scratch team. It
will be interesting to see who wins that battle.
Fingers crossed the weather will allow the event to
be completed quickly so that we can have another big
party on Sunday night. DJ regular to Skydive Hibaldstow
Paul Cooper is coming along to play.
30th August 2008 - 13:40
The scores are starting to roll in and both Dornier's
are flying non-stop. The judges seem to able to get the
rounds marked much quicker this weekend also.
In the senior 8-way, the British team Connexion are
already way ahead of any of the competition scoring with
a 12-point average after 3 rounds. The Freestyle A is
also hotting up with Afreaka doing an excellent round 1.
Their lead did not hold however with the Airkix team
catching up on the following 2 rounds. The Freefly B is
very competitive this year with a record number of teams
entering. Chixtix are the clear leaders at the moment
with Glory Hole, Average Dogs and Courtesy Flush all
very close to each other. Rounds 3 and 4 are in
progress, so its all dependant on pre-prepared routines
to score well here.
30th August 2008 - 07:10
Just one of the Dornier's is doing a test load at the
moment as the cloud is quite thick. However everyone is
up, excited and ready to go.

Team Glory Hole ready for action in the Freefly B
