Charity Name: The Thomas Standerline Memorial Fund for Local Young Musicians (also known as just Tom's Trust).
Amount Raised: £3,000 was raised as part of the skydiving adventure. The whole fund now has around £10,000.

Interview with Paul:

1. What is the name of the charity and what does it aim to do?

We are still in the early stages with the Trust Fund, the web site is being built as we speak. We have had a lengthy process of setting it up with the tax people etc, but the fund is officially called " The Thomas Standerline Memorial Fund for Local Young Musicians" or "Toms' Trust". There is a committee of 12, plus a minutes secretary. So far we have made good progress with fund raising, especially with the generosity of many people in the area of Scunthorpe, some of who we had not known previously.

Tom Standerline was a steelworker who died sadly last year in an accident. He was an avid guitar player and the charity aims to create access to young people to music, teaching and musical instruments.

2. Describe your tandem skydiving day?

The jump was fantastic, in the days leading up to it I think most of us were apprehensive to say the least! Once we arrived at Hibaldstow and saw jumpers faces after they had landed, all we could see was sheer delight and not relief, so this took away the nerves.

After the briefing by Noel the chief centre instructor, we were ready to go and couldn't wait. I went first with Noel, the plane ride up to 15,000 ft was great. I was pleased we had parachutes! Once the plane door opened we stood in the doorway and and off we went.

It was not at all like I imagined. Breathing was easy, I didn't feel like we were going 120mph. In fact it was very tranquil actually. I was pleased Noel was there, I was so engrossed that I never gave a thought to the chute opening. Once it did, I only wish we had jumped from higher, so that it could have lasted longer.

The guys at Hibaldstow were all brilliant, please pass on are best regards and a big thank-you to all of them. Myself and a group of 3 hope to do another jump in October.

As for recommending skydiving as a fund raiser, it has to be one of the best ways. Most reactions are "you must be mad", "you wouldn't get me doing that", "you are very brave". So people tend to give more then they would for other fund raising activities.
