2nd March - Kendal's Appeal

Date posted:
Friday, 14 March, 2014

Charity Name: Kendal's Appeal
Date of Jump: 2nd March 2014
Number of Jumpers: 8
Amount Raised: Over £3000

Report from one of the jumpers, Kelly Hughes:

"We decided to organise a charity skydive for 'Kendal's Appeal' (families against Neuroblastoma). Kendal is a little girl in our local community who was diagnosed over a year ago with a rare form of childhood cancer ' Neuroblastoma '.

Myself and Ash Latto decided that we wanted to do the skydive for Kendal and challenge ourselves. We asked friends on Facebook and on Kendal's fundraising page to join if they felt brave enough. Eight people did the jump in total and raised just over £3000 for the charity.

This was without a doubt the best adrenaline rush and experience I have ever done to date and I would highly recommend it to anyone. The staff were really friendly and put any fears I had initially at ease, although there are a few jokers amongst the instructors, it's all fun & in good humour. I welcomed the distraction that I was actually going to dive 15000 ft from a plane!"

Report From Ash Latto

"We managed to successfully raise just over £3,000 in sponsors for our charity skydive. The was a total of 8 people who did the jump in the end, I asked a friend of mine Kelly Hughes if she would be up for it, then we went on to ask friends of our own.

I have had connection with Kendal's appeal for around half a year now like, getting more and more involved as time does go on. It's such a great cause and I am so happy to be a part of the journey and hope many more do agree. I organised the because of my fear of heights so wanted to overcome that. Doing it for a great cause seemed like a great idea, so it had more of an edge to doing it for me really and I'm very happy I went ahead with it. My skydiving experience was amazing, one of the best days of my life. All the staff were great from walking into the reception to the staff in the canteen, to the staff on board the plane. My tandem diver was Gerry and he was a good instructor and a pleasure to share my experience with.

I will be back in the near future to do it again and looking forward to doing this!"
