10th July - Khalsa Aid

Charity Name: Khalsa Aid
Date of Jump: 10th July 2011
Number of Jumpers: 130

Description: Skydive Hibaldstow are pleased to work with charity Khalsa Aid in an attempt to beat our own Guinness World Record of 128 tandem parachute jumps in 24 hours, set in 2008.

The day got off to a great start with almost 140 jumpers ready and waiting plus 17 Tandem Instructors prepared to skydive continuously throughout the day from our fast turbine aircraft. By lunchtime we were on track and about halfway through when the weather started to deteriorate. After a few delays the final few lucky jumpers landed just before 8pm, including the organiser Manpreet who had chosen to wait until all the charity supporters had jumped before going up herself. The record was broken by just two with 130 tandem jumpers falling through the sky in 11 hours!

Khalsa Aid sky dive

Quote from Mapreet Kaur the organiser:

About the Charity: "Khalsa Aid is a non-profit organisation providing relief and humanitarian aid across the globe in places such as Haiti, Japan and Libya. Although run by Sikh volunteers and based on the Sikh principles of selfless service and universal love, the work carried out is for all of mankind; having being taught to recognise the human race as one".

About the SkyDive: "Organising and successfully pulling off a world record attempt was an incredible experience. The instructors, the staff, everything were perfect. Even during the weather hold for two hours, everybody at Hibaldstow was great. The miserable weather was unable to dampen our spirits. The actual sky dive itself was breathtaking- literally! It was such a unique experience compared to any other sport. A great big thank you to those who took part and everybody at Hibalstow."
