Emmerdale Shoot April 2014
If you enjoyed our 2011 Emmerdale Tandem Skydive, you will also have noticed that actor Chris Chittell made his first tandem skydive with Skydive Hibaldstow this April. This is not the first time Emmerdale has featured tandem skydiving at our dropzone, they did a large sequence in 2011 which featured disabled skydiving as well.
This time however, the fictional character Eric Pollard was skydiving for charity on behalf of his estranged wife Val Lambert who had contracted HIV. Skydiving for charity is a common theme amongst the world of tandem jumping and this story fitted well. Speaking to Chris's tandem instructor Andy Wesley, "Chris did a great job on his first jump with me. Although scared like many customers, he remained calm and did an excellent job exiting our Dornier airplane, maintaining a good freefall body position and also coming into land within 2 feet of the cameraman. Doing your skydive is a challenge for anyone, so all credit to him".
Another 2 characters involved with the story were Dan and Kerry. Dan unfurled a large flag with a marriage proposal on it, but sadly doing this in real life meant that a qualified skydiver was necessary. So our very own Andy Pointer acted as stunt man for the day doing a great job hiding the flag under his jumpsuit.
The scenes were all shot midweek on the 24th April with cameraman Jordan Wilcox doing a great job getting the shot on the first take.
