The 2024 season has come to an end and it’s safe to say there have been a lot of ups and downs (skydive pun intended). We have done our best to navigate around some terrible weather and as a result have had one of the busiest sport jumper seasons in recent years! You have been letting your voices heard and we have listened so in 2025 you can expect canopy courses, coaching, more multi-plane events than you can shake a stick at, regular load organising and that’s just to name a few. There is plenty more to look forward to as we leap in to 2025 so keep your eyes peeled.
British University Skydivers Fresher’s event at the end of October didn’t disappoint as the usual motley crew of students descended on the dropzone for drinking, some skydiving and more drinking. It was the usual mix of experienced jumpers and first timers as we saw Louie, Harriet, Ella and Parth (pictured) all complete their AFF Level 1!
The beginning of November saw Bradley and Ash bring back Hi66bleween! For those that don’t know, Hibaldstow used to have an annual Halloween themed weeked of skydiving, competitions and partying dating back to the mid 90s. The forecast may have been diabolical and there were a grand total of 0 skydives but that didn’t stop a great turnout. Instead of boring old skydiving, there were talks, games, laser tag, dancing, plenty of beers and a 2000 square foot canopy assault course (yes, you read that right). It just goes to show that it’s not just about jumping out of a plane, it’s about friends and community.
As we entered the depths of winter, the sub-zero skydiving conditions didn’t deter the hardcore jumpers from turning up. Danny Carr and Nick Calcutt had an excellent turnout for their load organising which included some epic sunset loads. Our last weekend of jumping was a truly memorable one. After a terrible week of cloud and rain, the weather Gods blessed us with a perfect jumping day on the Saturday to send off 2024 in style. Nick Davison, Nick Calcutt and Danny Carr organised some awesome jumps and after we were done, beers and cocktails were in full flow in the bar. The buffet produced by Abi and Mally in the cafe stole the show as Karl hosted another game show night to round off a great season!
As a reminder to you all, we will be closed from December 15th 2024 until January 15th 2025. We hope you all have an enjoyable Christmas period with your nearest and dearest as well as high hopes for an incredible new year ahead. We think 2025 is going to be one of our best years yet and look forward to all of you being a part of it!
