Here is our first newsletter of 2025! We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and New Year (is it too late to be saying that?) and are looking forward to coming out of your winter hibernation.
It’s safe to say we have had a questionable start to the year. Who would have thought that winter skydiving in the UK would bring such terrible weather? Let’s just hope it’s not setting the trend for the year ahead and we have a glorious 2025 season. We’ve got a lot of exciting things to look forward to, all we need is the conditions.
We’ve managed to hit the gaps where possible. Dean Savage and Nick Davison have been continuing on with their increasingly popular load organising group as well as Hib house coach Andy Godwin who has been progressing many jumpers with his one-on-one sessions.
The University of York students have been braving the Baltic conditions, including some winter ground schools to get new jumpers up in the air. We also welcome Owen and Maisie from the skydiving society to the Hib team. They will be packing for us this season so be sure to say hello when you next seem them on the mat.
Our special mention this newsletter goes to Geoff McVey who was recognised at the Expo this year for hitting 6000 jumps! Congratulations, Geoff.
As the weather starts to pick up, so too do the events! Here’s what to expect over March and April:
