June 2025 Newsletter

Monday, June 30, 2025

We’ve been (mostly) very fortunate with the weather so far this season. A couple of heatwaves and not too many bad weather days!

It’s all been happening at the DZ. Bradley returned for the first of his Falling For Fun for this year, we hosted a British University Skydivers multi-plane event, Jim Bradwell blessed us with yet more multi-plane action, Chris Sears and Manfi joined us for an excellent week of progression. We also welcomed the Skydivers Over Sixty team who successfully set a new UK record. You may have seen that ITV covered the event – they managed to build a 22-way formation and held it for 5-6 seconds. We had skydivers fly in from Canada, the USA and Japan – including an 80-year old jumper from Texas! Congratulations to all those involved.

We would like to welcome a few new members to our hard-working skydiving team – Ryan, Marta and Simon. Ryan completed his first tandem skydive with us in 2018 and after a stint in New Zealand, he has now come full circle and is our of our instructors. Marta has been part of the team at Skydive Spain, but successfully converted her rating to BS and will be with us for the season. Simon has also been jumping with the Swallow Group in Algarve but has ditched sunshine and beaches for the beautiful Lincolnshire countryside. Be sure to say hello when you’re next here.

Ryan and Marta successfully converted to British Skydiving ratings as part of the instructor course which we hosted at the beginning of June. Jake was also on the course and passed his tandem instructor course with flying colours. Well done, Jake! Let the joy of tandems begin.

We have one final congratulations to give. A huge well done to our very own Karl Peart who passed his Advanced Instructor rating in May. He put a lot of (last minute) work in to the course and it has paid off. Well done, Karl!

Unfortunately, it is with sadness that we report the death of Alan Russell in a mountaineering accident. Alan was a long-time skydiver at our dropzone, a talented skydiver, regularly competing in AAA and attending bigway’s. He was a gentle, kind soul and he was always at hand to help anybody who needed it.

Just as a reminder, we are now open 7 days a week for July and August. Keep an eye out for all that you can expect over the 2025 season!
