What is a Tandem Skydive?
Tandem skydiving allows you to experience the thrill of freefall skydiving without any extensive training and is our most popular UK skydiving course. After a short tandem briefing, you will jump harnessed to the front of a fully qualified parachuting instructor from 15,000ft. From this height, you will enjoy one whole adrenaline-fuelled minute of freefall reaching terminal velocity at 120mph.
We also offer a ‘learn to skydive’ training course – Accelerated Freefall (AFF). No experience is required, however, this involves one full day of skydiving training before you can jump. Therefore tandem skydiving is most people’s choice as their first venture into the world of parachuting.
Tandem skydiving is open to pretty much anyone as long as you are aged 16+ and weigh less than 95 kg. If you are over 95kg , we can take you up to a maximum of 100 kg (there is a small surcharge). Our oldest skydiver to date is 93! Take a look at our full list of restrictions.

Step 1
ARRIVAL AT THE AIRFIELD
When you book your tandem parachute jump, you will be given an arrival time for one of our sessions.
Once you arrive on-site you need to register with our reception.

Step 2
Briefing
During a group briefing, your Tandem Instructor will explain everything you need to know about your skydiving experience and you can ask as many questions as you like.

Step 3
GEAR UP
Your instructor will kit you up in a jumpsuit, harness and goggles when it’s your time to jump.

Step 4
THE FLIGHT TO ALTITUDE
Once you have boarded the aircraft, it takes less than 15 minutes to reach skydiving altitude and you’ll be 3 miles above the airfield.

Step 5
The Jump
This is it! Together with your instructor, you’ll take a leap of faith, jumping from the open door. Very quickly, you’ll reach around 120mph in freefall for up to a minute.

Step 6
Parachute FLIGHT
The instructor will open your parachute at around 5,000ft and you’ll then enjoy around 5 minutes under canopy taking in the spectacular views of the Lincolnshire Wolds before landing back on the dropzone airfield.

Step 7
LANDING
The spectator area is not far away, so you can gloat as you head back to see your family and friends before you instructor helps you out of your harness.

Step 8
Post-Jump
Before you leave, you will be presented with a Tandem Jump certificate to prove you were brave enough to skydive.

Step 9
FOOTAGE DELIVERY
If you booked our video and photo package, then this will be ready shortly after you land.
Popular FAQs
When you take your first skydiving course, the feeling will be completely different to what you were expecting. In freefall, the feeling is similar to the floating sensation you have in a swimming pool. Some customers are scared that there are similarities with sensation of going over the edge on a roller-coaster. This is not the case. Skydiving is an exciting and exhilarating experience and one you will not regret.
We could not successfully operate our business if we did not adhere to a strict set of safety practices. Skydiving has far less injuries proportionally compared to other adventure sports such as skiing, snowboarding, white water rafting, rock climbing, etc.
To give you an idea of how safe parachuting actually is, here are a few points:
- 4 Levels of checks before you make each parachute jump – when the parachute is packed, when the student puts it on, a check from the instructor on the ground and another check before they leave the aircraft
- We are affiliated to the British Skydiving, the most safety-conscious skydiving association in the world.
- Our Chief Instructor (CI) is also an Examiner and helps to develop new standards in safety and the progression of the sport.
- Every person who jumps on one of our skydiving courses is equipped with a main and reserve parachute, helmet, altimeter (all AFF students) and fully automatic opening device should the student not open their parachute.
- Regular checks and maintenance servicing of our parachuting equipment by a qualified British Skydiving rigger.
- Skydiving is a weather dependant sport and we cannot guarantee that conditions will be suitable for parachuting every day. On some occasions rain, heavy low cloud or strong winds can prohibit jumping. If you are unable to skydive then we are happy to re-arrange it for a mutually convenient date and you have 12 months from your first visit to the parachute centre to jump at no additional cost. For full details please read our Terms and Conditions.
- Please note that AFF ground training takes place as scheduled, regardless of the weather, as all instruction is classroom based.
