National Championships 2011 In 8Way, Artistics & Speed

Thursday, August 11, 2011

After a huge weekend in 4-way, the DZ once again came alive, for the second of our nationals weekends – The 8-way, Artistic and Speed championships.

The eyes of the nation this year were split over two categories – the huge battle between the Brit Chicks 8 and Microclim8 in the senior 8-way, and between Volare and Kinetic in the Freefly A discipline.

Despite a valiant battle, the Brit Chick just lost out, even with a stunning 11.9 average score to Microclim8 by a total of 12 points. Next year girls!

Congratulations to well known competitor, Pookie who took Gold for the 13th year in a row with Microclim8 for 8-way Senior – quite an achievement.

Freefly A proved to be equally as tight, with the Volare boys taking gold by only 3 points. Competition was certainly tight this year.

In Freefly B, Hib team Jessna took silver very proudly, but were just pipped by the boys from Area 99.

Freestyle A was won by Airkix Freestyle, just beating Freestlye99.com to the post. Congratulations to Al and Pixie for winning and Cat and Andy for putting up a great fight.

In the Speed Skydiving discipline, Simon Brentford proved his might this year by successively beating his personal best five times in a row setting his new record of 280.41mph average over his best three jumps. Very impressive indeed.
